ABOUT AVICHUCHIS:
Avichuchis, also known as zafiruchis, are small and restless creatures that sometimes look like grey and sinister creatures from Las Hurdes, in Extremadura, Spain. They have grey leathery wings and a tough jagged beak. They sleep on brambles and guard wells and mill wheels connected to hell, always fly in flocks and plummet toward the ground to feed on corpses that haven’t been buried yet.
They can also adopt the shape of small humanoids. Some live in Gorrero’s mountain range inside underground tunnels they dig, where they hide stolen treasures. Some live on the rocky tops of the mountains and go to the villages on St. John’s eve to spoil relationships, blow in the ears of sleeping children (and even gnaw them!). They also run on the roofs, burn numbing herbs and even change people’s sex.
